Snorkeling at Telegraph Island Musandam

Snorkeling the Musandam Fjords

Swim in crystal-clear water teeming with life.

Unlike many other snorkeling destinations where the coral is dying due to rising water temperatures, the nutrient-rich, cooler currents flowing down from the Musandam mountains keep local reefs extremely healthy and incredibly colorful.

The Two Best Spots

Telegraph Island (Jazirat al Maqlab)

Telegraph Island sits right in the middle of Khor Sham. The island drops off sharply underwater into deep shelves. Because dhows routinely anchor here, massive schools of striped surgeonfish, parrotfish, and even harmless blacktip reef sharks gather in the warm, shallow perimeter.

Seebi Island

Located at the very end of the 16-kilometer Khor Sham fjord, Seebi Island is totally protected from ocean swells, making the water as flat as polished glass. The water here is significantly shallower over the reef, offering incredibly sharp visibility of the vibrant purple anemones and clownfish.

What to Expect

When you book a dhow cruise, perfectly sanitized masks, snorkel tubes, and life jackets are provided for free onboard. The water temperature is beautiful from October to April (around 24°C to 28°C). In the heat of summer, it can reach an almost bath-like 32°C.

Included in Dhow Cruises!

You don't need a special ticket to snorkel! All of our Half-Day and Full-Day Dhow Cruises automatically include long stops at these islands specifically for swimming and snorkeling.
