Kayaking in Musandam Fjords

Kayaking in Musandam

The most peaceful way to navigate the "Norway of Arabia".

When the engines of the dhow boats are cut, the fjords of Musandam fall completely silent. Only by kayak can you paddle close enough to the shoreline to hear the water lapping against the limestone cliffs or watch cormorants diving for fish.

A Closer Look at Nature

Because kayaks don't vibrate or produce engine noise, they don't frighten the wildlife. It is remarkably common for dolphins to swim right up alongside kayaks in Khor Sham out of sheer curiosity, offering an intimate wildlife encounter unlike any other.

Additionally, kayaks allow you to glide over the ultra-shallow coral reefs right near the shoreline that heavier boats cannot reach. You can clearly see starfish, sea urchins, and colorful reef fish just inches below your paddle.

How to Kayak in Musandam

We do not recommend renting a kayak from Khasab port and paddling out into the unpredictable Strait of Hormuz. Instead, the safest and most spectacularly scenic way to kayak is by booking a dhow cruise that carries kayaks on board.

Once the dhow anchors in the calm, totally protected waters around Telegraph Island or Seebi Island, you can lower a kayak into the water and paddle around the bays safely.

Request Kayaks on Your Tour

While standard sharing dhows do not carry kayaks to save deck space, we offer complimentary kayaks on all Private Dhow Charters upon request!
