Khasab translates historically to "fertile," referring to the incredibly rich waters surrounding the peninsula. Fishing is the lifeblood of Musandam, and joining an experienced local captain guarantees an authentic Omani fishing experience.
What We Catch
Musandam is legendary for large, fighting game fish. The most common species targeted by our deep-water speedboats include:
- Kingfish (Giant Trevally): Enormous size and brutal fighting power. Usually caught via trolling.
- Barracuda: Lightning-fast predators caught along the sharp drop-offs.
- Yellowfin Tuna: Seasonal wanderers that pass through the deeper waters of the Strait of Hormuz.
- Hammour (Grouper): Found abundantly in the rocky crevices on the bottom (bottom-fishing).
The Experience
We provide all the professional fishing gear, bait (or lures), and lines, but you are more than welcome to bring your favorite lightweight or fly-fishing tackle from home. Trips typically depart early morning (6:00 AM) or late afternoon, as the fish are most active during cooler hours.
