Do I need a 4x4 in Musandam?
For Khasab town and the main highway, a regular car is fine. However, most of Musandam's best attractions (Khor Najd, Jebel Harim, Wadi Bih) require a 4x4. We strongly recommend renting a 4x4 or booking our guided tours instead.
Do I need special insurance for Oman?
Yes. If you are bringing a car from UAE, you need Oman-specific vehicle insurance (available at the border). Rental cars from Khasab include Oman insurance. Check your coverage includes off-road driving if you plan to go off-road.
What driving licence do I need?
A valid GCC driving licence is accepted. Other nationalities need an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their national licence. Check your eligibility before travelling.
Are roads in Musandam good?
The main Khasab–Tibat highway is excellent. Mountain roads to viewpoints are unpaved and require 4x4. GPS signal can be weak — download offline maps before your trip.
