Ancient Marine Fossils
One of the most remarkable aspects of Jebel Harim is the abundance of marine fossils found at its summit. These fossils - including ammonites, sea urchins, and coral - are around 250 million years old.
Their presence at 2,000+ meters proves that this entire region was once beneath a prehistoric ocean. Over millions of years, tectonic forces pushed the seabed up to form these dramatic mountains.
Important: Please don't remove fossils from the site. They are protected by Omani heritage laws.
