Unique Architecture

Bukha Fort features a distinctive circular tower design that's unique in Oman. While most Omani forts have square or rectangular towers, Bukha's round towers give it a distinctive appearance.

The fort was originally built to protect Bukha's harbor and to control maritime traffic in the region. Its elevated position provided an excellent vantage point to spot approaching ships.

In recent years, the fort has been carefully restored using traditional building techniques. The mud-brick and stone construction has been preserved, maintaining its authentic appearance.

About Bukha Town

Bukha is a small fishing town on the Musandam coast, known for its traditional atmosphere and friendly locals. The town has a nice corniche (waterfront promenade) where you can walk and watch fishermen at work.

While smaller and quieter than Khasab, Bukha offers an authentic glimpse into coastal Omani life. It's worth spending 30 minutes exploring the waterfront after visiting the fort.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Bukha Fort is during sunset. The warm golden light illuminates the mud-brick walls, and the views over the bay are spectacular as the sun dips below the horizon.
