From Fujairah, take the E99 coastal road northward along the Gulf of Oman through Dibba Al Fujairah, then cut inland toward Ras Al Khaimah to join the main route to the Tibat border. The total distance is approximately 250 km, with a driving time of about 3 hours. The journey offers stunning coastal scenery through the eastern emirates before transitioning to the arid foothills of the Hajar Mountains near the border.

Leave Fujairah by 5:30 AM to make the most of empty roads along the E99 coastal stretch and reach the border before 8:30 AM. Weekday mornings are lighter on the Dibba corridor, but Friday mornings can see tourist traffic heading to the Fujairah beaches. Aim to start the E99 segment before sunrise for the spectacular dawn views over the Gulf of Oman.

Fujairah-based travellers can use either the Tibat border (via RAK) or the Dibba–Oman border crossing closer to the east coast. The Dibba crossing feeds into the coastal Oman road to Khasab and may be less crowded, though it adds winding mountain driving. Standard UAE exit and Oman visa fees apply at both crossings.

- Underestimating the number of roundabouts and speed reductions on the E99, which make the drive feel longer than the map suggests.
- Not fueling up at Dibba Al Fujairah and finding no stations until Khasab town.
- Trying to take the Dibba–Oman mountain road at night, which has no lighting and sharp curves.
- Ignoring the tide schedule when planning a Snoopy Island snorkeling stop on the return — low tide exposes rocks and reduces visibility.
