The total distance is approximately 250 km, with a driving time of about 3 hours. The journey offers stunning coastal scenery through the eastern emirates before transitioning to the arid foothills of the Hajar Mountains near the border.

Leave Fujairah by 5:30 AM to make the most of empty roads along the E99 coastal stretch and reach the border before 8:30 AM. Weekday mornings are lighter on the Dibba corridor, but Friday mornings can see tourist traffic heading to the Fujairah beaches. Aim to start the E99 segment before sunrise for the spectacular dawn views over the Gulf of Oman.

Fujairah-based travellers can use either the Tibat border (via RAK) or the Dibba–Oman border crossing closer to the east coast. The Dibba crossing feeds into the coastal Oman road to Khasab and may be less crowded, though it adds winding mountain driving. Standard UAE exit and Oman visa fees apply at both crossings.
